Tank Mates for a male Bet

23 11:44:46

Question
I have a male beta that is very easygoing.  I wanted to put
white skirted tetras as my other fish but are afraid they
will nip the beta's fins.  I wanted white fish in my 20
gallon tank.  Would you please advise me on the tetras or
what other white fish will be compatible with the beta?

Thank you,
Marie Hood

Answer
Hi Marie,
The betta's beautiful long skirt is an attraction to all fish.  White skirted tetras would nip the betta's fins. The little albino catfish would be a good choice as bottom fish, you would have to put 6 of them in as they are a schooling fish.  They eat algse wafers, and love sinking shrimp pellets.
Moon Platies, and shrimp make good tankmates for the betta, but I cannot guarantee this, as all fish have their character.
There is not a big choice, and I hope this helps.
