Question
Hey Ron remember me the guy from yesterday with the sick goldfish with dropsy. So today i bought a 10 gallon fish tank and a air filter. I filled the tank with water from my sink and let it set for 20 min, then i put the air filter. Then i added 1/4 teaspoon of epsom salt, after that i went and added the fish to the tank(he was swimming straight up in the original tank). I was going to bye the antibiotic tomorrow. So i put him in the new tank and watched, during the whole time in the new tank he was at the bottom swimming periodically. Then after 20 min he started turning side ways, but i thought this was OK, but then he turn completely sideways with a slight curvature to his body, breathing slowly. So i panicked and put him back in the original tank, but he stayed sideways and a few minutes later died. I think i killed my fish, do you know what happened?  I really miss him :((, but i want to know if i would of let him in his original tank or if i used water from the original tank to fill the new one, would he still be alive. Thanks for your Answer.

Answer
Hi Jose,
It's really hard to say.  It would have been better to use water from the tank, but it is very likely that your fish was on its last legs (fins) and wasn't going to recover.  Sorry.
