QuestionHello Sir
I got a 300 gallon tank with 3 Peacock Bass and 2 Red Belly Pacus I was wondering about the red belly pacu how do you keep there red color on there body or do they lose it in time when they get older. I was wondering if feeding foods that says color enhancing and also carrots because doesn't carrots have beta-Carotene in it and this helps bring out the red color in some animals.
Thank you for your time sir.
AnswerHi Thomas,
Fish color is a product of many things, including age, diet and how the fish feels. For instance, many fishes color-up when they are interested in breeding.
I have never heard of feeding a fish carrots -- they might be hard to digest -- but shrimp are a much more likely source of carotenoids.
