beta disease

Question
My beta is fresh water.  For two weeks his scale near his  right eye has been missing some. An open wound almost. It has been a month or two since his friend died. We have realized  ladybugs in his tank. Could that be the cause? We bought a pile  and broke it into fourths . Putting one in his tank to disovle withen a 24 hour time period .The lady at the pet shop  said it couln't hurt to try it .He keeps spending time  near the bottom. Usually speeding around the tank.Is Jaws on his last lap??

I would change part of his water and see if he improves. All fish need a weekly 25% water change anyway. More often when they are sick. Be sure to use a water conditioner and be sure that the new water is the same temperature as the old water. It's possible he has an infection but try water changes first. Sometimes that's all it takes to boost the immune system for fish to heal. If they get better it means they needed it and to keep doing it.

I don't understand what you mean by the ladybugs and the "pile" you broke into fourths...??? Can you be more specific about that?
