cichlid + Plecostamis

Is there a way I can get my Cichlids to leave my pleco alone? He is missing one eye and the other is ingured.

Hi Lowell,
 Do you have nice big piece of wood for the pleco to hide under?   Plecos are generally active at night and they like to hide during the day when the cichlids are active.
