Finnegins status

Question
Hi again! Thanks for all your prior advice.  I tested Finnegin's water and got the following readings:  pH: 7.6;  high pH: 7.4; ammonia: 0; nitrites: 0; nitrates: 5.0ppm.  I vacuumed his substrate and did a water replacement and re-arranged some of his plants & caves.  He seemed to like the attention.  He was a much more active swimmer this weekend - darting around and exploring.  He ate better, but only twice from my finger --the rest he did his "lazy" routine of wating for it to sink and reach him before he grabbed it.  One thing I DID notice (now that he's swimming again and not lying on his belly hiding in his cave):  his bottom fin has changed color.  The webbing/shred of his tail used to have a magenta color, but now looks more blue like the rest of his body.  Is that normal? aging? vitimin deficiency from his days of not eating?  He SEEMS a lot better, but I don't want to take for granted that he's just 'out of his funk' and on his way back to being his old self.

Answer
Patty,

Glad to hear he is doing better. As for the color changing it does happen. I have a couple of males that go from red to blue then back to red. As long as he is doing well and eating, I would say he is doing good. As always, just keep an eye on him for any changes for the worse. Goos luck with Finnegin.
