Hi Lynda,
Could you please tell me what fish is this? I also would like to know how many times do green terror spawn per year and how can I keep the fry alive without losing any any single one even if they were 100. Thank you. Much Appreciated.

Answer
Hi George,
The green terror must have a tank of his own, if you are considering breeding them.  They are quite violent, intolerant, and aggressive towards other fish, and will easily kill to protect their fry.  They need a 60 gallon tank, or more, and flat rocks where the female lays her eggs.  She may lay anywhere from 300 to 600 eggs.  They may be a little tacky with their first spawn, but after the first one, they do great.  Keep the couple together, do not remove the male, as they are excellent parents.  The fry should be fed baby brine shrimp four times a day as soon as they are free swimming.  Water changes everyday must be made after the fry are free swimming.  A PH of 7.0 is best for them.  They do not like alkaline water, or acidic, so anywhere around 7.0.  There temperature should be around 82 degrees.  The fry are slow growing until they reach 1/2 to 3/4 inches.   When they are about 3/4 inches long, they begin to grow more quickly, and should be fed with a good quality flake, frozen food, and other foods.  Vary their diet.  The water should always be free of ammonia, and nitrites, as they are sensitive to water conditions, and may die rapidly if your water chemistry isn't right.
They will spawn again after the fry are big enough to fend for themselves.  This usually takes 2 months.  It is hard to say when, this is really up to the fish, and their temperament.
From the picture, it is certainly an "Aequidens"  which one is difficult to say.  It could be a green terror, or a blue acara, but I am not sure.  There are sub species of the "Aequidens," so very hard to say.
Hope this helps.
