Question
I went out to our local Petco and they have a Leopard Pufferfish. My question is do you think they will get along with Platys, Rainbows, Rainbow shark, Danios, and a Blue Dot Pleco? Also do you have to have a different slat level than normal for them?

Answer
J.Hanlin,      Regarding your puffer, they are often displayed and can live for awhile in freshwater maybe a few years. This is absolutely a brackish fish. I hate when they do that but, they do that with many like the African cichlids, the bala sharks and many more. The fish you have will get along with your puff and they tend to be very shy until they get some size. It is doubtful that will happen in a freshwater tank because of the lack of electrolytes , salinity, and minerals, he needs. So basically what I am saying is they can be so kool and have such a great personality in the correct water. So if you like him please, think of setting up another tank. If you have any questions regarding setting up brackish tanks ,no problem. I have a 55 with a red bellied scat, a mono sabae (beautiful), two spotted puffs, and a few bumble bee goby's. I keep it very natural colors and it is just great my puffs are over 5 years old and are about 6 inches long and fat....lol . Good Luck, Tina
