Bloated angel fish

Question
Hi, I have a male angel fish that I have just noticed looks quite bloated. He's not eating much either. Do you know the cause or how I can help him? Thanks

Answer
Hi Melanie,
He may be constipated.  Constipation leads to Swim Bladder, and if left untreated will lead to Dropsy.  The cause to constipation is overeating, and poor diet.
Try to feed him a cooked frozen pea with the outer layer removed.  If he  does eat the pea, wait one day, and see if he wastes.  If not, you will have to treat him with "Kanamycin" or "Tetracycline" or "Furan-2."  Follow the directions on the package, and be careful not to overdose.  Keep his water very clean, free of ammonia, and nitrites.
When he starts to eat again, feed him small amounts 3-4 times a day, and vary his diet as much as possible.  He should have one cooked frozen pea a week, and on the day you feed him the pea, he should have nothing else to eat.
I hope this helps.
