Question
QUESTION: hi,
i have 7 molly(3female and 4 male) 2 rosy barb. i wont to buy some new fish that can live with my fish in same tank.
i think its OK to buy guppy, sword-tail, or platy. can i keep that fish in the same tank is it OK? can you give me complete advice with description. what care should i have to take if i keep them in same tank. (its ok if there is need to remove my rosy barb i can do something for them like selling).
please help

ANSWER: Hiran,  The first thing you need are some bottom feeders. Since you have a totally non-aggressive tank I wold go with the Cory catfish (corydoras). Add a couple of them and it will help with the loose food at the bottom. You can put platy's, swords, tetra's, guppies they are all fine. You didn't mention the size of your tank so be careful not to overload it!!!! Good Luck, Tina

QUESTION: hi Tina,
but my name is Hiren.
thanks for advise but i have only 10 to 15 gallon of aquarium.
is my rosy barb OK with molly or i need to remove them?
i have 6 molly fry before 20 day (separated in jar of 2 liter because i don't have another aquarium)bur 4 of them died one by one after a water change. i think it is the water change which kill them.
but please tell me what can i do for the rest of two?  i wont them alive at any cost.(both fry are moving sometime or sitting at the bottom for long time at one place and they also come up to eat the crushed flake food.)

Answer
I am so sorry Hiren forgive me,  Actually your rosy babrs are one of the least aggressive schooling fish in the barb family and are perfectly fine. Unfortunately it probably was the change that was the problem, Hiren. They fry are very acclimated to they water they are born in. Their slime coat is thin and they are not strong yet and very delicate. It is a lesson learned. I am sorry. I am going to tell you how to sex your Mollie's so you can find homes for the males or female so you don't end up with a tank full of nothing but Mollies'. The male has one long anal fin under the middle side of his body this is the gonopod or gonopodium. The female has two fanned out V shaped fins. You are close to capacity in your size tank especially with all your Mollies' but, we can layer it. You can still add a couple small catfish for the bottom like the Cory's I mentioned and guppies are close to the top swimmers so you can add a couple of them. Then I am sure as you get more addicted to this hobby you will go bigger. You can make your community of different kind of fish much more diverse. Good Luck, Tina
