My fish will and wont feed

QUESTION: I have got a new fish called lyric it's a boy but I also have an old fish called lilac and my problem is everytime I feed them lilac comes to eat before lyric notices so lyric hasn't had food nearly all week but I keep trying and today I tried 7 times and everytime I fed them food flakes lilac gets em all and I can't just take lilac out to feed lyric because my tank is filltered and it would kill them so help I'm scared of a fish dying

Do not worry...once the new fish gets accustomed to his new home, and he feels safe, he will eat. Buying a new fish is a very traumatic experience for the fish. It often takes them awhile to get over it, but he will.

QUESTION: I do understand what ure saying but how long will it take for him to settle in because I took lilac out the tank in a jug of filltered water and I put food in and he wouldn't eat it but he's always up at the top of the tank and eating peples is it possible he doesn't like fish flakes coss that's what we feed them constantly I know Uve already answered but I've had him a week and I don't really understand please replie

Every fish adapts at different rates. No one can say for sure how long it will take. Some are fine the next day, and some it can take days or weeks. You should not have taken the other fish out of the tank as this caused both fish additional stress. You need to keep things normal. Try feeding him something different like bloodworms or brine shrimp.
