Question
I just got my little budgie a couple days ago.  I've been around them a lot in the past and expected lots of fluttering, squawking and nipping.  It squawked a couple times in the box when I was bringing it home, but hasn't really made a peep since.  It allows me to handle it with no squawks or nipping.  I'm worried she's not moving around- she was in the same spot when I got home from work as when I left.  From the pile of poop in that spot, I don't think she moved at all.  It also doesn't look like she touched her food or water.  Her recent poops have been a runny green.  I'm worried she's sick or weak since she doesn't move around much and doesn't make any noise.  Is she sick or just still adjusting to the environment?  Or is this just her personality?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Abra.

Sounds like she may justbe adjusting to her new surroundings. She is defecating which means she mustbe eating, but it does sound like she may have diarroehea probably caused from stress make sure to clean her cage every day while she is having dia to prevent infection and replace her water with cold black tea and add some charcoal (from the pet store)to her seed.
If she is sitting there all puffed up eyes half open and has a runny discharge from her nostrils or eyes she is sick possibly with gastro and will need to see the vet.
Good luck with your new bird!
