Question
HI,

I had got 2 Parakeets a while ago, one is a male and one is a female,I'v had them for about a year now,and well i also have a nesting box for them and i had it in there for a while now,I havn't seen the two mating yet...I thought it was weird though that they have been together for a year and havn't started to mate...so yesterday i decited to go to the store and get a nother male, do you think there would be a more posability for 1 of the males to mate...i have also witnessed that the new male has been making these cute, weird noises ... and i havn't herd the other male sound like that... can you help me on what are the sighns,noises..., and othere things i can learn about....for the breeding..?

Answer
Hi Sheena!

First off, the female probably didn't see the older male as a prospective mate, or maybe you just never saw them breeding. The younger and older male sound different because of their ages. Let your birds have time to figure out the order of status and then let them be for another month or two and then see what happens. They may just decide to breed, but for now you've done all you can and it's time to let nature take it's course.

Hope this helps!
