Budgie supplies

Hi

I am getting my first budgie within a few days but am not sure what I need other then a cage and food could you list the basic things I'll need?

Hi.  Thanks for posting your question.  Congratulations!  Budgies (or parakeets) are great birds!  You'll need a cage big enough so your budgie can play, some toys (budgies love to swing, climb, a mirror perhaps, etc.), several dishes for food (parakeet seed, pellets, treats), a water bottle preferably (in lieu of a water dish), perches (I use tree limbs...they need a variety of sizes of perches for their feet), newspaper or some type of substrate for the cage bottom, a cage skirt (to help keep the birdie mess off the floor), a light (depending on where you locate your bird in your house), something to set the cage on or hang it from, perhaps a separate play area away from the cage (depending on how elaborate you want to get), a birdie first aid kit (let me know if you need help with what to put in this), a cage cover for night, and lots of love!
