QuestionI have heard that birds need gravle and I have heard that it can cause impactions should I offer it or not?
AnswerHello. Thanks for posting your question. Parrots DO NOT need gravel or grit. Any bird that hulls it's seed (like parrots do) do not need gravel or grit. The only birds that require gravel or grit are birds like doves, pigeons, most outside birds, because they eat their seed whole. The gravel/grit helps their gizzard (crop) crush the seed hull so they can digest the seed. Do not give to parrots (parrots are any type bird with a hooked bill...parakeets, cockatiels, amazons, lovebirds, etc., etc.).
