pecking budgie

Hi Jennifer. I have had my budgie for 2 months, he is about 1 year old, and i bought him from a garden center. He is bright and alert, and very chatty.He will sit on my finger when i put my hand in he's cage, so as you can see he's not frightend of me.If i put my finger in he's cage through the cage he will come over and peck at it, i thought he was playing at first, but i think he is being spiteful, he pecks at everything,apart from not putting my finger in through teh bars is there some thing i can do?Thanks Jim
