Question
I have a parakeet that I have had about 10 years and for the past 2 days he has not been his live self.  He does not cherp andymore, all he does is sleep and he falls over a lot when he does that.  I moved his perch down low so if he falls he will not hurt himself.  I finally put him in a shoe box and he just lays there.  I tried to put him back in his cage but he would not get off my hand.  I don't even have to close the top on the shoe box because he just lays there.  My question is:  Is this the end of his life and if so is he suffering?  What should I do?

Answer
Hello Ramona and thenk you for your post.
Your little friend needs to be seen by a Certified Avian or Exotic Animal Vet right away.
It is instinct for a bird to hide its illness until it is too late.  They do this to keep from becoming prey to other animals.
It may be the end of your bird's life, but only a Certified Avian or Exotic Animal Vet can tell you for sure.
Please keep me updated, but get him in to be seen right away.

Good luck and God Bless.
