Question
During the summer, I house my parrotletts on the porch. They have 6 babies ranging from 17 days to 1 week old and are doing well. This evening while feeding them the seed cup door did not fall down and out flew the father. This happened about 4 hours ago. The father was hanging around but now it is dark. He seemed to be bringing all the food, and I am worried that she may not feed them. I do have some kaytee exact and am willing to assist her in the a.m. when their crops are empty. But I will not interfere if she is willing to feed. I still will be on the lookout, for the Dad, who was doing kiss- kiss sounds high up in the trees. Should I attempt to feed them asap ?   Thanks ,Janice

Answer
Hello Janice and thank you for your post.
You will probably have to go to your local pet shop and buy a hand feeding formula and hand feed the babies.  They are still too young to have seeds or pellets.
Hopefully the Dad will return, but if he doesn't, you will probably have to do the job.
Here is a link to a site that will help to explain how to hand feed the babies.  I have read through the site and it is very well put together and very informative.

Good luck and God Bless.
