Question
Hello I am considering a parrotlet as a pet (I think its the blue rumped ones), but before I do any more research I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about there temperments as well as there suitability as a pet for me.

I own a cockatiel as well as budgies.....would a parrotlet bother my tiel or budgies or would they bother it?

Are they loud birds?(compared to the ones I have)

The ones my pet store has are handfed, do they want your compationship as do handfed cockatiels?

Are they anything like budgies or tiels in personality?

Most small parrots dont have the ability to pick things up with there feet is this the same with parrotlets?

Also whats there avrage life span?

thanks for any help in advance

Answer
Hello.  Thanks for posting your questions.  I cannot tell you what is a suitable pet parrot for you because I don't know your lifestyle, your likes, dislikes, etc.  You'll have to make this decision yourself based on all available information.

Each bird's personality is different.  Therefore, it depends on the individual personalities of the bird's as to whether they would get along well together.  There are no guarantees when you buy birds and house them together.  I personally prefer to keep different species of birds housed separately.

Parrotlets are no louder than your tiel and budgies.  Normally, when a bird is handfed and bonded to a human, yes, they like human companionship.

You'll have to be more specific as to whether a parrotlet's personality is similar to a tiel or budgie.  They are different species of birds and in some ways they are similar
and some ways not so similar.  Depends on what you are referring to exactly.

All parrots can pick things up with their feet unless they have a health problem/problem with their feet.

Life span is as with any other bird/animal.  Depends on genetics and how well they are taken care of and what they experience during their lifetime.  No one can accurately predict how many years a bird will live.
