Red Rumps and a Cockatiel

Question
Hi Dianna.... I was just hoping to get a few more "opinions" on a subject. I have a lutino cockatiel hen who was given to me several years ago and I recently bought a bonded pair of normal red rumped parakeets. We're in the process of upgrading cages for all of the birds and was "thinking" about a flight cage (about 5 ft in length) for the tiel and parakeets. Do you think these birds can live together or should I not even attempt it? The red rumps are still nervous about being handled and the tiel is more into people though she would rather not be held. Both were from homes where they were covered alot.

Thanks in advance.
Lisa

Answer
Hello Lisa and thank you for your post.
I have never had the pleasure of working with Red rump Parrots before, so I am really unsure how to answer this.  The information that I have found leads me to thinking that it probably isn't a good idea to house the two breeds together, as teh Red Rump can get aggressive.
If you do put them all into the flight cage together, keep a close watch on them to make sure that there is no fighting.
I'm sorry that I couldn't give you a better answer.

Good luck and God Bless.
Dianna
