Ringneck dove losing feathers. help!

Question
hello, i have a question about my ringneck dove, guinevere. this morning, i grabbed the vaccuum to picked up a few feathers that had fallen around the cage. there weren't a whole lot, just a few on the ground. however, after i vaccuumed, i looked up to see guin missing quite a few feathers around her beak and eyes. i left the room to get someone else to look at her and when i came back the floor was completely covered in very small feathers and guin's face/neck/head had bald spots. she looks so pitiful and i am completely worried about her. unfortunately, there are no vets in my area that deal with birds (not to mention today is a holiday). we recently moved, but she's been here for about a month or so, but my dog and i just moved in with her a few days ago. i don't know if she's stressed or sick or what to do. any ideas, suggestions... anything?
please help, thank you,
rikki

Answer
Hello,
Thank you for your question.

I actually had the same thing happen to my Ringneck Dove today, why? He is molting.

I do not think your bird is in stress, and if he is, I would not be able to tell unless I had a picture of him and what he was living in. However, if you do not think all of his feathers are falling off because of molting, then try taking a picture of him and send it to me. :)

Otherwise, I am sure your bird is just molting.
Hope this helps!
