My 8 mth old quail, with adorable personality has been loosing feathers, molting I would imagine,and become aggressive - biting pecking screeching and running from me. I've researched molting in other birds and have tried to make her as comfortable as possible. Is this normal? Could there be some other cause? Will my little friend come back? Thank you, Kelly

When you say "will my little friend come back" do you mean it ran away or will the personality come back? I presume the latter. If she is losing a lot of feathers and not replacing them right away, there might be something else wrong. Molting won't change personality. The bird is getting older and shows more fear, as is normal in the wild. Molting is instigated by photoperiod and I don't know what kind of lighting you have. I think there may be something wrong in her diet or maybe she has an infection or some kind. Check with a vet.
