Question
I feel soo sad about what happened at the kentucky derby and I really feel strong about learning the horses behavior and working with them and not drugging them up as an answer to every problem you have. My question is how to help convince my husband how NOT to use drugs as an always answer to behavioral problems  or just lack of knowledge on the horses behalf. te yearling we have paces alot when she is out in the paddock away from her buddy what do we do besides rug her. shes very good and lets you  just about anything to her. please help me to help my husband.

Answer
Drugging is very dangerous to horses, the develop a tolerance, it can cause colic, it can shut down organs and should only be done when medically necessary.

If drugging is your answer to handling a horse you should not own horses.  It is unfair to the horse and shows you are not committed to owning and caring for them the proper way.

Read my site, it will give you insight to a horse, it will just scratch the surface and a lot may not make sense, so read it again a few days later and you will get more out of it.

You and your husband are setting yours horses up to be disrespectful, dangerous and unable to be handled.  This will prevent medical care and will get someone or the horse hurt and then someone will be blaming the horse for being mean or dangerous.  So unless you want to put the horse to sleep right now, take some responsibility and learn about horses so can care for them and keep them safe.
