Question
I've got a 6 year old Welsh D who hasn't had shoes on for about 18 months now. She's been ok up to now but there is some bruising on her hoofs and she's been a bit footy on uneven ground. Is there anything that I can do about this apart from putting shoes back on her?

Answer
Hi Steph!

I cannot accurately answer this question over the internet.

From the information you've given me I would say that shoes would help
prevent the bruising.

You said she's been "footy" on uneven ground.

I would have a local vet you trust come out and watch you horse move and decide the best course of action to take. You can even go so far as to have your ferrier there with the vet and the two of them together can make a accurate professional decision.

There is nothing you alone can do to fix this problem.

Good Luck and remember to always wear your ASTM/SEI approved helmet.
