Question
i did knock it off and it was back the next day however its not real thick is it supposed to be thick or thin or how is it supposed to look?

Answer
All waxing is caused from, is when milk or fluid from the udder leaks out and hardens at the end of the nipples.  Depending on whether or not the mare's milk turns whitish, the wax can look anything like hardened honey to a butterscotch color.  It will literally look like candle wax hanging from her nipples.  It should be quite thick, but not hard.  It would be like if you had a drop of honey that had set out for a few hours and started hardening.

Not every mare will wax either.  So, if your mare is waxing, consider yourself lucky that she is giving you that early warning that she is close.

You should be able to do a search on the internet for pictures of mares that are waxed... then you could have an idea of what it is that you're looking for.
