Dead or hibernating RES

How do you tell if a RES is hibernating or if he actually died?

I'm not a RES expert, but I'm going to guess that, like box turtles, they should move a little.  If you give him a good poke by his tail, he should move a little or make a hissing noise.

If you want to be sure, try taking him out of hibernation.  Put him at room temperature for a few days.  If he still does not move, I'm afraid he's gone.

There are certain reflexes that they should have, but I'm not sure what they are.  The two tests I've given you should help you know for certain.
