QuestionMy daughter was given a male sugar glider. We have tried everything, but he smells up the whole house. We were wondering if we had him fixed would that take care of the problem, or could we have his sent glands removed. His smell has go to go or he has to go. Please advise
AnswerMelody,
Thanks for the question. I'm sorry your daughter was given a Sugar Glider without having had the proper education about gliders and their care. Gliders are social animals. They should not live alone, but should always have a companion.
The males do have additional scent glands. Neutering will help, but will not totally eliminate the problem. Frequent cleaning of the cage also helps. I have never heard of gland removal for Sugar Gliders.
Please keep in touch.
