housing two corns together

Question
Hello,

I was wondering if you could help me.
I have a young corn snake, not more that 18 months old and I would like to house her with my new arrival, a hatchling corn, also female. I know that I'll have to wait till they get to a similar size as the hatchling will not make it if i introduce them straight after the quarantine period but when the new baby is large enough not to be viewed as dinner, in a large enough tank, will the girls be able to live together happily?

Many thanks,
Sally.

Answer
Hi Sally,

Housing multiple corns together is absolutely fine. it is very important that the smaller corn gets to a similar size as the larger one or it may be bullied by the larger corn snake and this will put it off food and it wont survive. its not so much that the larger corn sees the smaller corn as dinner but. is more the fact that the smaller corn will be dominated by the larger and will stress it out.

as long as the two snakes are similar size and the tank is large enough then they should live happily together.

thanks for your question,

Andy
