Underfed corn snake

Question
Good day.

I live in South Africa and have 2 corn snakes and a red tailed Boa. I have been encouraging all my friends to also get snakes as they are such wonderful pets. One of my friends then bought 2 baby corns. Sadly the female (Snow Corn) tried to eat the male (Albino Corn) and he died. I have never before heard of this kind of behavior under corn snakes. The female is now 2 years old and still very small. She still eats Pinkies. I asked my friend how often he fed her and he said that he only fed her about once or twice a month. I was really shocked bought the snake from him immediately. I am going to try and rehabilitate it. (Now I am sure that this explains why the snakes tried to eat each other)

What do you recommend I do? Should I power feed it or is there certain vitamins that I can give to the snake to help it. Will this snake be any good for breeding later on?

Answer
Hi Chris,
I cannot answer your breeding question as I am not an expert in that area. I would recommend not power feeding her. You might feed her 2 rats (not mice) pinkys weekly (about the diameter of the biggest part of her body (girth). It is acceptable to feed 1 every two weeks once the snake is well established. I keep over 20 different snakes now and they all do well on one meal every 2 weeks. Granted, all my snakes are over 3 years old. I have one corn that I took on as a rescue. He is about 1.3 meters and as about as big around as an American quarter. I think yours will do fine in time.
