leopard gecko skin dull and wrinkly

Question
QUESTION: I have noticed lately that my leo has been rather dull eyed and somewhat lethargic, his skin has become very dull and wrinkly, I am doing everything correctly, he has fresh water daily, a clean vivarium which is well heated, he eats well (although is eating a bit less lately)and has a varied diet of crickets, locusts and occasionally mealworms. When I got him from the petshop he was a baby and had a very thin tail, his tail is now thick as it should be. I have no idea what is wrong with him and would love some help. Thanks, Sarah.

ANSWER: Hello Sarah,

Do you have any pictures of your gekco?
I would suggest getting a fecal done?  If he has worms or parasites, then, that could be why he is not gaining any weight.
What type of substrate is he on, sand, tiles, paper towels?
When was the last time he went to the bathroom?

QUESTION: Hi tracie, what is a fecal? I have had him for around 9 months now and have not had any probs until now, I am not concerned about him putting on weight but rather why his skin is wrinkly and dull. He is on calcium sand. Thanks. Sarah.

Answer
Hello Sarah,

A fecal is simply a stool sample to test for worms or parasites.
Do you know if he ingests any of the calcium sand?
His skin should not really be wrinkly unless he is going to shed soon, then it will get dry and wrinkled looking to a point.
How is he doing now?  Has he eaten anything today?  The main thing is to make sure he does not lose weight.
