Question
QUESTION: Hello, i have a burmese..he's about 5 years old..I was told that he's trying to breed because he havent ate in over two months..i know it is still winter but im not trying to breed him and i want him to start eating again..i want to know if there is like some kind of remedy to make him start eating, such as keeping his temp up throughout the day and night? Or will he start eating when he's ready?

ANSWER: Is he around a female?  If not, it's POSSIBLE he still wants to breed but I would have my doubts.  My burms almost NEVER refuse food unless they are shedding (sometimes not even then) or when they are sick.  Most common sickness with burms is going to be respiratory infections.  Listen to his breathing-if you hear any gurggling, see any bubbles or snot he needs help.  If not write me back.

QUESTION: No he's not around a female but he's still scratching his spurs against the floor of the aquarium. actually he makes like a sneezing sound or sometimes.. why does he do that..hes been doing that ever since i got him over a year ago.

ANSWER: OK, sneezing is NOT GOOD!  He probably has had a mild respiratory infection the whole time and now it has gotten bad enough that he is off feed.  Raise his temps immediately and check the humidity.  Start looking for a local vet as well because he may need antibiotics.  How big is the cage and how big is the snake?  What the current temp and humidity situation?

QUESTION: hes about 10 feet and hes in a 75 gallon.. the temp is now staying between 82-89 during the day..i try to keep the humidity betweeen 55-65..FYI,i used to stay in a 2 br apt. and his stage was in the spare room, and which i would leave his incandescent light on during the night but i had recently moved into a one bed apt and i had to put his  cage in my room. We turn his light off at night so it doesn't disturb our sleeping so i think that have something to do with it also because he got colder at night, and thats around the time he stopped eating. don't you think?

Answer
Yep, too cold at night for sure.  Get a red heat lamp or better yet and undertank heater to fix that.  Also, more bad news: your cage is WAY too small.  He needs one of those big fiberglass 6 footers by now.  Mine use the Vision 6x3's from about 5 foot in length on up.  In that small cage hes never going to be able to stretch out or really move around, combine that with low temps and you've got sick snake.
