Question
I own 2 green anoles, a male and a female. However, their tank is getting to small so i want to get a bigger one. I know someone who is selling a 20 gallon tank with an African Plated Lizard for a very good price. Will these animals all get along?

Answer
Hi Austin,
Sorry to say they cannot be housed together for several reasons... their care is completely different, especially with the needed humidity levels.  Plated lizards require a much less humid environment than the anoles. Also, given the size difference, the plated can make a meal of the anole, or give it a good try. One thing they do have in common is they both need special uvb lighting...but..no species should ever be housed together.  Many times, species carry diseases that aren't a threat to their own species, but can be deadly to other species.
You may want to go to www.freecycle.org and find a group in your area which is basically a place to ask for or give away free items you are in seach of or are wanting to get rid of.  Yoou can also check with pet stores as many times they are selling "leaker" tanks or "cracks" at a really reduced price.  Its great that you want to give your two anoles more room!!!
