Fat tailed gecko

Question
Hey Tracie!
Alright either I am very paranoid or my there is something wrong with my nephew's gecko.  I am watching the fat-tailed gecko while they are gone on vacation for for weeks.  It has been about 3 weeks now. And the little guy doesn't seem to eat anything.  His tail is very very skinny.  So skinny it is withered.  He has no interest at all in his crickets...he doesn't even look at them. He had just finished shedding his skin a few days before they left and actually just did it again about 2 days ago.  He did eat all of his skin as well.  He seems to be doing fine moving around...not really lathargic, although he does keep his eyes closed a lot.  He does have skin still on the tip of his nose.  I just wanna get him to eat something.  He looks far too skinny to what he should look and to pictures I have seen on the internet.  PLease let me know what to do to help him out.  He is still at their house if that helps any.  He wasn't moved anywhere.
Thank you so much!

Answer
Hello Licenda,

No, his tail should not be skinny like that, definitely not.
What is his setup like?  Do you have an undertank heater & a basking bulb at one end of the tank for him?
He needs a hot spot of around 88-90 on one end with a cooler end of around 78 or so.
What type of substrate do you use, sand, tiles, paper towels?
If you have any pictures, you can send a couple here so I can take a look.

If he is not eating, you can get some chicken or turkey baby food to feed to him through a plastic dropper or syringe.  He may have worms or parasites which will diminish his appetite.
