Question
I have two schneider skink lizards that have lived together for over 10 years.  They live in my classroom.  I noticed today one of them is missing its toes on its right front leg.  What could of happened?  I don't see the lizards fighting.  Do they grow back and what can I do.  I feel really bad for it.

Answer
Hello Marci, the toes will not grow back and if it is housed with another lizard of any type then that is most likely the cause. Unless perhaps you feed them crickets and left the crickets in there overnight? I suggest moving him to a separate enclosure, line the bottom with papertowels (safe and to reduce the chance of infection) Keep the new enclosure really clean increase the heat a couple degrees and use polysporin on any open wounds. A herp vet is the best thing for him so that he can get the proper anti-biotic or other medication needed to heal. And they can help with what to do after that and what to look for. I am sorry this happened and I hope he is ok and gets through this. Good luck
