bearded dragon is bloated

Question
I fed my 5 year old bearded dragon freeze dried crickets for the first time because the pet store was out of live due to the hurricane. I fed her yesterday about 20 dried crickets and also some of the dried colored food (can't think of the name, but you soak it to moisten it first). She is now fatter than ever. She looks bloated and her body feels like it is full of fluid. She has a 50 gallon breeder with the UVB and heat lamps (approx. 95 degrees) Same habitat for the last 4 years, so I don't think that is the problem. She is not currently gravid either. I have soaked her in warm water, but no help. Please offer any advice.

Answer
Sherry,                                                                 Sometimes the freeze dried stuff don't go down so well. I am surprised she ate it. They can be picky as I am sure you know. She may be impaacted from the harsh shells of the crickets and the amount she ate and of course she is not accustomed. Go and get some mineral oil and an eyedropper. Give her an eyedropper full 2 times a day for a week or until you see the bloating goes down. This is a natural laxative for her and should help her pass anything that may be blocked up in her. Take a good look in her mouth too and make sure there is nothing stuck in there....it can happen along with this sometimes.....Good Luc, Tina
