Question

Hello,

I recently went out and got three [ even though it was supposed to be one ] leopard geckos. some sites that I've checked said keep their temps at 85-85 while some say 85-90 - i'm not sure which is correct so i chose the 85-88. as far as the nighttime goes, is the warm side still supposed to remain that high or should i let it drop a little? so far they're good & eating well. however, i've noticed my albino one does this little (slow) wave, shake with it's tail before it goes in the hide with one of the other geckos - they dont do anything back though.. also, my yellow & black one "Sandino" i seen him/her licking back "there" like it's just got done mating - i highly doubt it, since they're all babies/juveniles but it's never done that before. i've tried checking to see if i see any pre-anal pores but i think it's too early to tell - however, i don't want to end up with three separate tanks either.

thanks, ashley.

Answer
Hello Ashley,

The best temps to keep them at are 88-90 on the basking side & around 78-82 on the cooler end.  They need an undertank heater on 24/7 along with a basking bulb used during the day to keep the temperatures up.
At night, it is ok to let the temperatures drop some.  That is why it is important to have the undertank heater because they do need belly heat to digest but also some warmth at night.
Yes, they are too young still to sex unless you manually probe them which is fairly difficult.
You will just need to carefully watch them for signs of aggression & dominance to ensure you don't have 2 males in the tank.
