Litter trained, now leaving droppings everywhere

Question
We have a male, nonneutered lop-ear rabbit about 20 months old.  He's always been an indoor rabbit by day, caged at night.  He litter trained easily by three months of age, and never urinated outside his litter box and seldom left droppings outside his litter box for over a year.  Lately he's leaving droppings everywhere (e.g. 5 in the kitchen, 12 in the laundry room and 15 in the family room in an amazingly short amount of time), and has urinated on the couch a few times.  Why has he reverted?  More importantly, how can we get him back to his former, tidy ways?

Thanks for any advice you can give us.
Karen

Answer
Dear Karen,

Seems that the hormones have kicked in a little late, but kicked in they have.  A change in the home can trigger marking behavior like this.  But usually the only way to reliably get a bunny back to his good habits is with a neuter:

and then careful re-training:

I hope this helps get you started.  Please write back if you have any other questions.
