PAIN KILLER FOR RABBIT

Question
Hi,
We have Neatherland dwarf rabbit. age: about 6 years. Recently she lost her muscle strength to hold hind legs in position. Now she can not stand or hop due to this. Our vet tells that this due to protein deficiency-muscle wasting- and now most likely irreversible.Any pain killer and high protein diet suggestion to help her. Particularly if this terminal condition how can I provide palliative care to reduce suffering. Our vet suggested euthanasia bit I am not yet ready for it. She is eating well at present.

Piyush .

Answer
hello Piyush

Aww your poor bunny. It must be really hard for her. Its good that she is eating well and if she seems happy in herself then really there is no need to put her to sleep. However, if she starts to act poorly and stops eating and drinking then you will really have to think about what is best to do for her, you really wouldnt want her to suffer. She is also at an old age which may not help the situation.

just give her loads of love and cuddles, thats what she will need the most.

hope this helps
