Question
Hi. My neighbor's dog attacked this really tiny baby dwarf rabbit (wild). It's leg bone is showing, and fur is missing, a bit of skin is gone. There is a tooth puncture in his side, not deep, however. He isn't interested in water, but does eat some food. We have some ointment, but we aren't sure how long it will last. And we can't go to a vet, we don't have much money. The mother abandoned the baby. What should we do? (We also have caging, food, water, bedding, etc.) And what are the chances he will live? Is it safe to keep him if he gets well. We are worried if we let him go then he won't know what to do and won't survive.

Answer
With or without treatment, wild baby rabbits have a low life expectancy, unfortunately.  But, there is some information here that might help you - http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabcare.html#baby

If you have triple antibiotic cream and some gauze, you can put that on the leg, just be sure to change it each day.

Read the above information to determine his age and if he can survive on his own, and then feed accordingly.
