Question
Hello, I have spoken to you before about starting breeding holland lops on a very small scale(one pair or a trio), They will be indoor bunnies I know all about amonia smells and hope to be able to keep them "stink free" because they'llbe in/near my bedroom, My only real conseren is will it be expensive maintaning two hollands and a futuer litter? What beddings/foods would be more cost effedctive but would still be good quaility and not cheap dirt lol? I'll need somesort of good stink stopping bedding too lol... the cages would be clened every three/four days plus I plan to try litter pan train them too, I look forward to your reply.

Answer
Purina Rabbit Food is very inexpensive and is good quality (this is in the green bag).  Many feed stores sell it open bin or in 25 lb. bags, either of which would work for you.

Litter is going to be trickier, the good stuff is of course more expensive.  If you have slide out trays and line those with newspaper, then put litter in just litterboxes, that would help.  Petsmart and Petco have a number of paper or other recycled litters that will work, as will plain cat litter (not clumping, just plain).

There is no bedding that will keep the smell down really well, only regular cleaning will do that.  Yesterday's News and Feline Pine are two I have worked with that work fairly well, although there are others depending on what's available in your region.
