Outsiders rabit

I have a question on a rabit that my mom found outside in or backyard he was on or balcony steps and i was wondering if its ok if we keep him in a cage or should we let him go? write now hes in a cage just for the day but im wondering if i should let him loose.

Does he look like he is a wild rabbit or a pet rabbit that got loose? Wild rabbits should be let loose. If you are not sure, you can contact your local Fish and Game (or Wildlife Services) to have them take a look at it. If it is a domestic rabbit, it is fine to keep him in the cage.
