New bunny I need some help please?

Question
Hello,
A couple days ago I got a baby rabbit, I don't know if its a boy or a girl, but I'm going to get it fixed, so hopefully I will find out then.
My mom and me just got done building a HUGE cage for ( Sesa its name ). I have been recently been researching on " How to take care of a rabbit". I have learned lots of new things, but yet I still have a couple very important questions.
    1. I've read that rabbits will eat and eat and eat and they will get really unhealthy. I don't know how much to feed my rabbit? should I leave food in Sesa's cage? or feed it like humans, three meals a day?
    2. Can rabbits be potty trained? Sase comes on my bed, and watches tv with me... but whenever I go to put Sase away I find a present left for me, and sometimes its pee, I have went through 4 bed sheets in 2 days!?!
   3. Sase is always cleaning and rubbing he/she ears, should i be concerned? I don't think he/she has bugs or anything else, if they get things like that, but I also have 5 dogs and they get all types of things.
thank you for your time,
Jessica M

Answer
Hi Jessica! I am so glad you have a bunny as a pet. They are wonderful! As far as your questions go, I need a little more information. Do you know what breed Sase is? The amount of food will depend on the breed. Make sure you mostly feed rabbit pellets and hay. Not too many vegetables, or Sase will get an upset stomach. The smaller breeds only need about 1/2 cup of food per day of pelleted food. Hay can be given in unlimited quantities. Carrots or apple slices can be used as occasional treats. Lettuce and other leafy greens are actually not good for rabbits.
And rabbits can be potty trained! Look in the cage to see where Sase does most of his/her "business"; then put a small container over that spot with cat litter or wood shavings in it. Make sure it is big enough for Sase to get in and out of easily. Once he/she gets used to going there, then it should all be fine.
Rabbits love to wash themselves like cats do. They are very clean animals. All breeds; but especially the lop-eared breeds; love to clean their ears. No reason to worry over Sase cleaning.
Just give him/her lotsof love and attention. I think it is great that you let Sase on the bed to watch tv with you. Rabbits love to be adored and cherished.
I hope I have been able to help you; and feel free to ask me anything at all.
Good luck with Sase!!!
