rabbits swollen testicle

Hope you can help.  Our rabbit is about 5 years old, a mini-rex (lynx).  I noticed his left testicle is very engorged, red and fairly hard, while on the lower right he has on his inner thigh a swelled hardened area also.  Could they be related?  What could the problem be and how can we treat it?  There are no holes or breaks in the skin, no flakiness or scaling.  Testicle is very swollen and red.

Hi Molly,

this is a medical problem requiring a vet to examine it and probably do a surger-type solution here.  Could be a blood supply problem, bleeding into the scrotal sac, infection of some kind, blockage of some kind, bruised in a fall.  Whatever it is, it is a very serious problem.

Please get to your rabbit vet ASAP.  If he appears to go downhill, and really tired or having balance problems or anything else funny, get to an emergency vet immediately, call ahead or while on the way so they can be ready for you.

This isn't a small thing.  It's a big thing. I'd move quickly if it was my rabbit.
