One ear flopped over

Question
I've had my rabbit for about 2 months now and she has always had both ears straight up unless they were layed back. But when I got her out of her cage yesterday, she was holding one of them down while the other was up. And it's the same thing on the same ear today. I've been trying to find info on it on the internet, but have come up with nothing. She has been to the doctor just a few days before she started holding her ear this way and I have just recently got a humidifer to help her with the use of the heater, so I just want to know if it's something I should worry about.

Answer
Hi Sheena,

it could be a few things.

1.  Injury
2.  Infection
3.  Just doing it on purpose
4.  Lazy ear condition (born it too hot weather conditions, and one of his parents was a lop-eared rabbit).

The heater might be causing a problem for her, it may be too hot for her and it's causing her to do this with her ear.  Rabbits can handle cooler temperatures much more easily than hotter conditions.  Anything above 75 degrees starts to get uncomfortable.  Anything above 85 degrees can put them into heatstroke and kill them.

60-64 degrees (without wind on them) in your house should be very comfortable for them.  Your heater may be making things hotter than she needs it.

Otherwise if you believe it is injury or infection-based, get her to your regular rabbit-savvy vet as soon as you can.
