Question
Hi! My name is Erin and I have a three year old female bunny named Thumper.  Im a college student and live by myself and I feal as if thumper could use a friend.  She was injured when she was about 8 mo. and has a limp.  I want to get a new bunny to keep her buise and happy, but I do not want to harm her by bringing in another bunnie if it is not right for her. I know she is older, would a young bunny be too much for her to handel?  Also I was wondring if thumper would help train the new bunny at all because it took me about 6mo. to litter train her?  and just one more question how big should a cage be for two bunnies that only get locked up at night? Thank you for yur help.

Answer
She most likely would enjoy having a friend, but, she is going to be picky about who it is.  If you have a rabbit rescue group in your area, I would start with them.  That way, if Thumper doesn't like your first choice, they will work with you til you find one she likes.

I wouldn't go with a young bunny just because of the potential for issues when the baby reaches his or her sexual maturity.  And Thumper might help train the new bunny, but then again might not.  Rabbits are not like cats in that regard, unfortunately.

I would go with a 2 foot by 3 foot cage, if you can, but at least a 2 x 2 1/2.
