Question
Hi.  I have a few questions about my bunny that I hope you can answer.  My Lionhead, Ashanti, sometimes has poop caked down there.  Why does this happen?  She runs from me when I try to pick her up when she is out and she bites and growls at me when I reach into her cage to take her out.  Why does she do that?  When we are sitting together, she will come over and bite me all the time.  Why does she do that?  Ashanti is very ill tempered and I think she hates me.  She's just like her sister.  Also, I just bred her for the first time this past Monday evening.  What kind of prenatal care should I be administering?  Where can I get this 'nestbox' that I hear about?  I hope you can help me.  Thanks in advance!

Answer
She gets poop caked on her from eating sugary treats or not enough fiber in her diet. She should be getting hay daily. Also sitting in a dirty pen or spot will also cause the poop to stick. If she was bred likely she will be more agressive toward you. IF she is young it also makes her a little meaner at first. After she has a litter she should be nicer. No prenatal care needed. Just extra hay, feed and water. The nesting box is made of either wood or metal, it is open on the top and has a solid bottom. you can order them online at a website called www.bassequipment.com
