Head Tilt - Timeline for improvement

Question
I've read your article on head tilt and am encouaged that you say a rabbit can
get better from this.  My rabbit (Bun Buns) has a severe loss of balance due to
E. Cuniculi according to the vet.  It's been 6 days since this occurred.  We've
had her on prednisone for about 2 days and on fenbendazol for 5 days but
my rabbit is still rolling and cannot stand up still.  She rolls every hour
minimum and usually more often than that.  We are taking care of her in a
box  with towels around it like you recommended but I am losing hope for
her recovery.  She still has a healthy appetite, but she is clearly sad that she
cannot move like she used to.  The vet said that she should have shown some
improvement by now but she hasn't shown any really.  Is there any hope for
my rabbit?

Answer
Dear Daniel,

> Is there any hope for my rabbit?

Absolutely yes.  A week isn't long at all, and you often won't begin to see really noticeable improvement for a few weeks, depending on the problem and the treatment.

An excellent new article is now available, written by a well-known expert rabbit vet, Dr. Susan Brown.  You can find it here:

www.rabbit.org/health/tilt.html

Please print a copy for your vet, too.  It may really help with diagnosis and further treatment.  But don't be discouraged if improvement is slow.  If bunny has a good appetite and is relatively happy and interested in her surroundings, she does *not* want to die, and there is no reason to rush things.

I hope this helps.  Hang in there.  She *will* get better!
