Rabbits Fur falling out

Question
Dear Mam, My son has had his dwarf bunny for almost two years. We have a cage for outside and a cage for inside. We have him in the outside only when weather permits, which is really only in the cooler days of summer. Anyway our rabbit has been inside all winter (just like last year) but now his fur is falling out in clumps. he is not bald, but my son is very worried that he is sick. Can you help?

Answer
Dear Jodi,

If the fur is coming back in normally and he has no flaking or bald spots, he's probably just shedding normally.  Please read:

and be sure to groom off as much loose fur as you can with your hands and gently, with a flea comb that will catch the slick fur and pull it out without hurting.  Be sure he gets plenty of fresh greens and fresh hay while he's shedding, to promote good intestinal motility so that any hair he ingests will pass through uneventfully.

Hope that helps.
