Question
Hi,
My rabbit's tummy is making weird noises, squeaking and rumbling although it doesn't sound like a humans tummy rumbling. He's eating and drinking ok and seems like his usual self apart from the tummy thing. Its getting quite hot could it be that? What should I do? I hope you can help
Thanks
Katie

Answer
Dear Katie,

It's normal to be able to hear an occasional tummy grumble, but if this is really loud and constant, then he may be suffering from gas.  This can be painful and potentially dangerous, so I would give him about 2 cc's (you can get a syringe at the pharmacy) of pediatric simethicone (also available at the pharmacy) to settle the gas.

Are his fecal and cecal droppings normal?  Please read:

to find out what this means, and how you can really gauge a bunny's overall health by checking his fecal output.

Hope this helps get you started.  Please write back if you have any other questions.
