Question
Hi Pam,

My girlfriend and I recently got a 3 1/2 months old mini rex. Its the cutest thing ever! However, because both of us have to work during the day, we often feel that she gets lonely when we are not around. Long story short, we've decided to get another rabbit as a companion. However, it its our fault that we didn't do too much research on keeping two unspayed female rabbits together, b/c when we tried to introduce the second rabbit (netherland dwarf), the first one started to attack her. The netherland dwarf is very shy and it kept getting pushed around. Since they are both about 3 1/2 months old, they are still too young to be spayed. What should we do in the meantime to help them get to know each better? We've separated them for now. Do we have to keep them separated (different cages) until after they are both spayed?

Thank you very much for your help!

Answer
Hi Jason

I am going to attach a site for you rather than writing it all out.  For now keep them in separate cages and let them play together a few times a day under close supervision.  You can also try swapping their litter pans and keeping their cages close enough so that they can see each other but not actually attack.

Here is the site and I hope after reading it that it will help you.

Sincerely

Pam
